Generally, NO. Standard PET plastic has a heat distortion temperature of around 60°C to 65°C (140°F - 150°F). If you pour boiling liquid (90°C+) into a standard PET can, it will shrink, deform, and melt instantly.
PET technology is advanced, but plastic is naturally slightly permeable compared to glass or metal.
